FAQs

  • Balloons and their baskets actually come in all different sizes and our fleet of balloons range in carrying capacity from 2 passengers up to 24 passengers. Aboard our shared flights there is generally 2-12 passengers aboard. The exact number of passengers aboard any given flight will be determined by how many people are booked for the day. Please note that the layout of all our baskets ensure a great 360 degree view for everyone.

  • Our launch site is at Gypsum Wildlife Park at Buckhorn located at the end of Buckhorn Valley Blvd in Gypsum, CO.

At the end of Buckhorn Valley Blvd you will see our Camelot Balloons sign, park at the trailhead parking. We will be looking for you near the yellow canopy!

  • Our flights generally meet just before the time of sunrise.

You will be notified of the exact meeting time the evening before your flight.

  • Children need to be aged 5 years or older and accompanied by an adult to fly.

Please also keep in mind that the burner noise can be a bit frightening to young children.

  • There is no maximum age limit – as long as you are reasonably fit and healthy with no significant knee, hip or back problems, no recent surgeries, broken bones or existing conditions that may make a balloon landing uncomfortable for you, and you are not currently pregnant, then you should be fit to fly.

Passengers will be required to climb into the balloon basket using the foot holds in to the side of the basket, stand for one hour and, in the instance of a bumpy landing, absorb a small impact which is similar on your joints to that of jumping off a low chair. You will also need to be able to hold on to the safety handles when the balloon is landing.

  • Unfortunately not. Due to the active nature of balloon landings, ballooning is not suitable for those who are pregnant.

  • Clothing suitable for walking or hiking is recommended with enclosed, water proof shoes. We suggest you also bring a hat and sunglasses as well as your camera.

  • Camelot Balloons is among the most experienced hot air balloon companies in the United States with over 30 years operating safely. We are proud of our excellent safety record and will not fly if the conditions are not suitable.

  • Our balloon flights are usually 45 – 60 minutes in duration. Please plan 3-4hrs for the entire experience which includes inflation, the flight, landing, and post flight celebration.

  • A weight calculation needs to be performed for your flight as all balloons have a maximum lift capacity. By providing your accurate weight you are ensuring that your balloon is weight loaded correctlyItem description

  • Depending on weather conditions of your flight you might find yourself flying anywhere between tree top height and 2 or 3 thousand feet.

  • Generally it is no colder flying in the balloon than it is on the ground. The small decrease in temperature at the altitudes we fly at are offset by the heat produced by the burners overhead. We recommend that you dress to be comfortable for the early morning ground temperature. Keep in mind that the temperature will increase after sunrise so dressing in layers is recommended.

  • Tipping is common in the travel, tour, and adventure industry. Tips are not obligatory but are always appreciated and accepted with gratitude. If you enjoyed your experience and choose to express this with a tip, please feel free to give any cash tips directly to any member of our team. If you would like to tip via credit card, please let us know and we can take care of this at the completion of the morning’s flight activities. What we generally see is an amount in the range of 5-20% of the total cost.

  • It is tradition to have a celebratory Champagne toast (or sparking apple cider if you don’t drink alcohol) after a hot air balloon flight, and we will have light snacks to accompany it.

  • If the flight is cancelled ahead of time due to forecasted weather we will contact you the night before to reschedule or refund you if you cannot reschedule. If the flight is cancelled the morning of our flight, either early in the morning prior to our meet time or at our launch site due to actual local conditions in the field, we will reschedule you if possible or issue a refund.
